P5/6 Visit The Amma Centre
P5/6 had a fantastic creative day at the Amma Centre where they brought their Soundscape Project to a conclusion. Over the past 7 weeks the pupils have created poems based on fictional characters from around their village such as the electrician ‘Mark the Spark’ or the playgroup leader ‘Miss Faye’.
The pupils recorded their poems and creatively thought of sounds to accompany their recording using apps such as Garageband. The pupils then designed fairy doors to match their character and these were then sent to Amma ahead of the visit so that they could be laser cut onto wood, where they would be then painted and decorated by the pupils.
The next step will be to create a village of all these fairy doors located in the outdoor classroom currently being built on the Forkhill barrack site. Their ‘Forkhill Fairies’ will form an amazing feature for passers-by who will be able to use a QR Code and listen to the pupils poems.
An amazing project from start to finish!
