P5/6 Develop their School Garden
Over recent weeks, P5/6 have been developing their school garden with the support of Maddy Kelly from Groundworks NI. Pupils have been working very hard and enjoying the opportunity to learn outdoors. All the boys and girls have been busy building and preparing raised beds and planting a wide variety of shrubs, herbs, fruits and vegetables. Strawberries, lettuce, onions, cabbage, carrots, parsnips, radishes, blueberries, gooseberries, blackberries, lavender, rosemary, thyme are but a selection of the wide array of goodies planted in our raised beds that were built by our very talented pupils. Not only did the pupils create our school garden but they tackled the playground bank which had been left untouched since the new build. Pupils designed the garden as part of a Numeracy task, taking the slopes measurements and drawing it to scale and so working out exactly how many shrubs etc they would need. A tremendous effort was made by all and all the pupils have loved the project. Well done one and all. Take a browse at our photos and see the work for yourselves
