P5/6 Begin their Soundscape Project with Amma Centre.
Today we welcomed Niall from the Amma Creative Centre in Armagh. We began our Soundscape Project, where over the next 6 weeks we will be exploring how sound is used to build a story or poem and how it can be used to create different feelings and emotions. Today we worked with the Pixar intro with the character Wall-E. First of all he showed us the advert for Bravia TV where all of these bouncy balls were bouncing and flying everywhere down a steep hill. We used different music pieces to compare how the mood had changed.
Our task was to make sounds with objects that we see every day and use them to create layers of sound effects for a short piece of animation. Niall put us into groups and gave us a long piece of paper to write down all of our sound effects. we had to work together and be creative in producing different sound effects. Then he brought out unusual objects to help us make these different sounds. Then he brought different people from groups to do the sounds and we added these sounds to the Pixer movie intro. He recorded us making the sounds and edited them.
It was a brilliant activity and we all learned a lot. We found it very interesting and we can't wait to do more next week. Have a look at our Soundscape and see what we did.
