BBC Newsline film P5/6 Planting Trees at Forkhill Greenspace Barrack Site!

6th Mar 2017

Today was an exciting day for pupils in P5/6 as they were invited to the Forkhill Greenspace site to plant trees as the project enters its final stage.  The BBC were there to capture this and the pupils had an amazing morning planting a large number of trees around this spectacular development. All pupils brought their own trees from school that they had sent away for from the Woodland Trust and they were also provided with lots of native sapling trees as well. They had a fantastic time. The scheme is called Peace Forest Ireland and all along border counties there are thousands of trees being planted. The Forkhill site provided the perfect location for the trees. In term one the pupils designed hundreds of pieces of artwork for the site. These will be lazor cut into giant totem poles around the site such as a huge sun dial and compass. The child have invested a lot of effort into the project and are very excited about seeing it complete. It was wonderful to see the project move so swiftly and to be involved in the development as well.
